TikTok is Being Banned! Old and Emerging Apps That Readers are Jumping To.
With the Supreme Court having ruled in favor of the ban, one question has been looming: Where are booktokers going? From anticipated apps to review platforms, here are just a handful of the internet spaces book lovers are occupying in 2025:

Margins: Book Tracker
This is one that I’ve downloaded myself. I am absolutely in love with the user interface. However, it’s still largely in the works. Currently, not all books are added and there is not a social aspect. I.E. you are not able to follow or friend anyone. That being said, if you like the sounds of widgets such as: a book reading timer and a visual list of books read for your yearly reading challenge, this is an app to look into!

Goodreads and Storygraph
If you are looking for more social “tried and true” apps, than these two are where to go. Goodreads has been around the longest, however there are a lot of critiques when it comes to the design and interface – with neither being updated very often. That being said, it is still largely the go-to for publishers and indie-authors who are trying to get out word about their book. Storygraph, meanwhile, fills a lot of the gaps people find with GR. It offers fantastic add-ons such as: quarter, half, and three quarter star ratings. It also allows for more intricate commentary on books read. You can check boxes for pacing, genres, themes, and there’s even option to add trigger warnings you believe are necessary to warn other readers of.

Tome: Fantasy Reading & Memes
Not Yet Released (Scheduled for January 28th, 2025)
Here’s one that I am hearing a lot about on Tiktok. Not yet released, Tome totes itself as a fantasy reading social app where you can track, organize, and share your fantasy reads as well as connect with like minded readers. It is yet to be seen whether or not other genres will have space on it, but it’s one to keep an eye out for – especially if you enjoy fantasy reads!
